Eni and Snam for sustainable mobility: new natural gas and biomethane filling stations in Italy signed contract for 20

Eni and Snam, through the subsidiary Snam4Mobility, following the framework agreement concluded in May 2017 and renewing their commitment to promoting sustainable mobility in Italy, signed the second application contract to realize 20 new CNG filling stations (natural gas) compressed) for motor vehicles on the national territory.

The contract, after a few months from the signing of the first application relating to a batch of 14 CNG plants, some of which will open to sales within the first quarter of the 2019, has as its object the design, construction and maintenance by Snam of 20 new CNG plants within the national network of Eni distributors. The investment for these activities will be in the order of 10 million euros.

Natural gas mobility is one of the best technologies available to reduce polluting emissions, for the benefit of air quality, and also ensures significant economic benefits for consumers. With the progressive development of a biomethane supply chain, which can be introduced into existing infrastructures, natural gas mobility is also becoming renewable.

The contract is one of the initiatives of Snam4Mobility to promote sustainable mobility throughout the country, for the benefit of the environment and consumers. The company, in particular, is aimed at operators in the sector to support the development of natural gas and biomethane supply systems and their greater diffusion in the various Italian regions, also improving the quality of the service provided to users.

With this initiative, Eni intends to further strengthen its offer for sustainable mobility: on a network of 4.400 plants, 3.500 provide Eni Diesel +, the premium diesel with the 15% renewable component produced by vegetable oils (including waste) at the Venice biorefinery through proprietary technology, while about 1.000 plants supply LPG and methane (of which 2 LNG and 180 CNG).
