Eni gas and light recognizes the prescription of bill payments as "automatic"

Eni gas and light recognizes "automatically" the prescription of payments relating to the supply of electricity and gas whenever the non-billing of consumption within two years is attributable to the company. The initiative was born taking into account the 2018 Budget Law (Nota 1), which reduced the limitation period for the payment of gas and electricity bills from 5 to 2 years, except in cases of customer responsibility.

Eni gas and light has decided to recognize automatically the requirement by relieving its customers from the need to complete and send the formal request for recognition of the period prescribed in all cases in which the delay in billing is due to the Company. The Eni gas and electricity customer will receive a bill showing the prescribed credit already deducted from the total amount to be paid. The initiative is already operational for contracts for the supply of electricity from 1 ° March 2018, and it will also be for gas, starting from 1 January 2019.

In cases where the delay in the billing of consumption is not attributable to the Company, but instead depends on the distribution company that has not detected consumption and / or has not promptly disclosed them, customers to enforce the requirement will have to send instead request formal to Eni gas and light because it can not in this case recognize the automatic prescription.

Customers can get more information by calling the 800.900.700 toll-free number or by consulting the Customer Guide, which will soon be enriched with more details on the subject, on the enigaseluce.com website.

With this initiative, Eni gas and light intends to reaffirm the centrality of its customers, with the aim of providing the most appropriate tools to make supply management increasingly simple and immediate.

Note 1: The 2018 Budget Law has introduced a significant change in favor of customers for contracts for the supply of electricity and gas: the limitation period for receivables of energy suppliers relating to these contracts, except in the case of customer responsibility, is been reduced from 5 to 2 years for electricity already from 1 March 2018 and for gas starting from 1 January 2019. In implementation of the Budget Law, the Regulatory Authority for Energy Networks and the Environment has also provided that suppliers are required to adequately inform customers, in the bill or other ad hoc communication, that part of the sums requested in the invoice could be prescribed, so that the customers themselves can enforce the statute of limitations and, therefore, not pay the relevant amounts. To enforce the requirement, customers must send a formal request to the supplier.
