Eni recognized as Global Compact LEAD by the United Nations initiative for corporate sustainability

Eni has been recognized today as a company of the Global Compact LEAD, demonstrating the Company's ongoing commitment to support the United Nations initiative on corporate sustainability.

The decision was announced at the UN headquarters during the 2018 Global Compact Leaders Summit.

"Today's decision is a recognition of Eni's constant effort on sustainability, which is now an integral part of our business model," explained Eni's Chief Executive Officer, Claudio Descalzi.

The Global Compact is a United Nations initiative that aims to mobilize companies from various sectors in order to make the business, and the community in general, more sustainable.

It is a tool created to draw the attention of companies to the importance of aligning their activities and strategies with ten universally recognized principles in terms of human rights, labor, the environment and transparency, encouraging them to take initiatives to support the United Nations objectives embodied from the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

It is a leadership platform for the development, implementation and disclosure of sustainable business actions. Launched in the 2000, it is the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world, with more than 9,000 companies and 3,000 non-business signatories based in more than 160 countries, and nearly 70 local networks.
