Leonardo at Eurosatory 2018, technologies and solutions for Common European Defense

Leonardo will participate in Eurosatory 2018 (Paris, 11-15 June), the main international fair in the world of land and air-based Defense and Security, exhibiting its latest technologies and solutions dedicated to the sector at stand C300 / B301 - Hall6 .

In a scenario characterized by the coexistence of different types of threats, both asymmetric and conventional, Leonardo is a reliable reference partner for the Armed Forces, offering experience and enabling technologies to ensure advanced capabilities in terms of information superiority, situational awareness and command and control, management of the weapon system, interoperability and communication.

At Eurosatory Leonardo will present a system architecture, FOB (Forward Operating Base), for the protection and security of military bases, airports and other critical infrastructures. Flexible and modular, the solution provides advanced surveillance and threat detection capabilities. Also on display are some of the SWave SDR (Software Defined Radio) family's military communications products, which include handheld, mobile, and handheld radio systems. In this context, Leonardo has taken a leading role in the ESSOR consortium, developing a radio architecture and a common waveform at European level, the HDF WF ESSOR (High Data Rate Waveform), to favor the interoperability of Land Forces, especially when engaged in joint international operations. Also on the community front, the company is involved in the "GOSSRA" (Generic Open SoldierSystem Reference Architecture) project, whose aim is to standardize soldiers' equipment and equipment to optimize the efficiency and operational effectiveness of the Forces of European countries.

In the simulation & training sector, an immersive reality solution, present at the stand, will allow a highly realistic simulation of a soldier-level battlefield operational environment, fully integrated with the Command and Control chain. Further demonstration of Leonardo's integration and interoperability capabilities for digital combat field management will be offered by a complete C4I (Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence) infrastructure.

Among the other systems on show, the Guardian, the countermeasure for remote controlled explosive devices already chosen by numerous countries all over the world, the system for night vision DNVS 4 (Drivers Night

Leonardo is also at the forefront of the latest requirements in the field of medium armored vehicles: in Paris the company will present its technologies on board the 8 × 8 Centauro II rotated tank, the LMV2 light multirole vehicle together with an integrated offer for the upgrade of wagons already in service, such as the M60. The HITFACT II large-caliber turret family, installed on the Centauro II and also on the ASCOD tracked vehicle at the GDELS (General Dynamics European Land Systems) stand falls within this scope - demonstrating the ability of this product to be integrated on different types. platform based on specific requirements.

Among the most innovative technologies on a world scale, the Vulcano family of guided ammunition, with performances that exceed those of all the products of this type currently available on the market. The United States has expressed an expression of interest towards the Volcano, which is now at the center of a strategic activity together with BAE Systems USA, a partnership that aims to open up interesting commercial prospects.

At Eurosatory the company will host in its stand the ceremony of passage of the presidency of ELDIG (European Land Defense Industry Group) from Leonardo to Rheinmetall. ELDIG is the forum of the European industries of the terrestrial sector and is part of the association ASD (AeroSpace and Defense Industries Association of Europe), which represents over 3.000 companies of 19 European countries.
