SACE SIMEST for the internationalization of Piedmontese Industrial Minerals in Latin America and North Africa

SACE, which is the Export and Internationalization Group of the CDP Group with SIMEST, has completed a loan transaction from 1,5 million euro to support the expansion abroad of Minerali Industriali, a company active in the production and marketing of raw materials

The credit line, guaranteed by SACE, is aimed at supporting the investment plan for the internationalization of the Piedmontese company. The resources will be used to strengthen the presence of Industrial Minerals in some geographies that present significant growth rates such as Colombia, Brazil, Guatemala, Mexico, Egypt and Tunisia.

Minerali Industriali is an Italian company - born from the merger of two historical Groups like Maffei and Gruppo Minerali - a leader in the extraction, processing and marketing of raw materials such as sands, feldspar, clays and kaolin. The company is also involved in geological and mining research, design and construction of systems for both the classic mining sector and the recovery of industrial waste and the development of innovative products in sports and leisure. Minerali Industriali is present with 13 production units in Italy, 4 in Europe, 1 in Asia, 3 in North Africa and 7 in Central and South America and employs about 600 people between Italy and abroad. Raw materials are destined for the production of glass (both hollow glass for perfumery, pharmaceuticals, bottles and glasses flat glass for cars, building and architecture), of ceramic (both tiles and sanitaryware), for the building industry (paints and varnishes, technical plasters and finishes, engineered-stone, premixed etc) and for various industrial uses (rubbers, plastics, silicones, sodium silicate for detergents, toothpaste, etc.).

Emerging areas and new opportunities for Piedmontese SMEs

Latin America and North Africa, which represent two of the most promising areas in terms of exports and investment opportunities, will offer new opportunities for Made in Piedmont in the next four years. According to the data contained in SACE's 2018 Export Report, Latin America will record a strong acceleration in 2018 that will have positive results for Italian companies: + 8% growth is expected in Mexico, the first South American market for Italian exports, + 7,3 in Brazil and + 6,8% in Colombia. A good performance is also expected in the North African area, which will be favorably affected by economic reforms in recent years: a growth rate of + 2018% in Egypt and + 4,9% in Tunisia is expected in 3,4.
