Development plan of the first phase of the Rovuma LNG project submitted to the Government of Mozambique

Mozambique Rovuma Venture SpA has submitted to the Government of Mozambique the Development Plan related to the first phase of the Rovuma LNG Project, which will produce, liquefy and market the natural gas of the Mamba deposits located in the 4 Area in the offshore of Mozambique.

As part of the Plan, details are given of the design and construction of two natural gas liquefaction trains with a capacity of 7,6 million tons of LNG per year.

ExxonMobil will lead the gas liquefaction activities and the construction of the related plants, while Eni will lead the development and management of the upstream activities. With the progress of the activities related to the Rovuma LNG Project, the maximum effort will be dedicated to the development of a local workforce and to the use of operational activities in Mozambique.

The final investment decision (FID) by the 4 Area partners is foreseen in the 2019, with the expected LNG production starting from the 2024. The activities aimed at the commercialization of LNG are making considerable progress, with the ongoing negotiations concerning the binding sale and purchase agreements, in parallel with the finalization of the approval process of the development plan.

The Rovuma LNG Project is operated by Mozambique Rovuma Venture SpA, owned by ExxonMobil, Eni and CNPC, and which has a participation of 70% in 4 Area alongside Galp, KOGAS and Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos EP (ENH), which each the 10%.
