Versalis is awarded the "bio" companies of the Mossi & Ghisolfi Group

The purchase offer made by Versalis for the “organic” activities of the Mossi & Ghisolfi Group was awarded at the conclusion of the competitive procedure ordered by the Court of Alessandria. The deed of transfer of the related company branches will be stipulated in the coming weeks, in compliance with the procedures and timing of the law.

The transaction includes assets and resources related to the development, industrialization, licensing of bio-chemical technologies and processes based on the use of renewable sources, in particular biomass, of the four companies Biochemtex, Beta Renewables, Ipb (Italian Bio Products) and Ipb power.

The innovative element of these processes is Proesa® technology for the conversion of biomass into second generation sugars and subsequent production of biofuels or, potentially, other bio-chemical intermediates. The industrial plant of Crescentino (VC) produces bio-ethanol and, by enhancing the co-produced lignin, also green electricity.

This know-how reinforces Versalis' competitive positioning in renewable chemicals, creating synergies with the research projects already underway, and will allow the development of an integrated biomass chemistry technology platform in line with the development strategy undertaken in recent years. .
