The 4 November is celebrated on National Unity Day and Armed Forces Day. Many initiatives organized by the Ministry of Defense throughout the national territory, which will culminate in Naples on the Caracciolo waterfront.
It will be the city of Naples this year to host the final celebrations dedicated to 4th November. After Trieste, the National Unity Day e Armed Forces Day will be celebrated with an event to be held on the Lungomare Caracciolo.
In addition to the capital of Campania, 35 Italian cities will be involved in the events dedicated to a particularly significant anniversary for our country.
Indeed, on 4 November Italy remembers the Armistice of Villa Giusti - which came into force on November 4, 1918 - which allowed the Italians to return to the territories of Trento and Trieste, and to complete the process of national unification begun in the Risorgimento.
The 4 November ended the First World War. To honor the sacrifices of fallen soldiers in defense of the Fatherland on November 4, 1921 the burial of the "Unknown Soldier" took place in the Shrine of the Altare della Patria in Rome. With the Royal decree n.1354 of 23 October 1922, November 4 was declared a national holiday.
Many initiatives organized to commemorate the Day of National Unity and the Day of the Armed Forces: "Open barracks"and "Barracks in the Piazza“, Performances by bands and fanfares of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza. Furthermore, in all provincial capitals, and in those in which there is a significant presence of departments of the Armed forces, the flag-raising ceremony will take place.
Also this year great attention will be paid to the new generations with lectures by military personnel in schools. Central themes, the historical circumstances and the salient phases of the Great War, but also the current missions carried out by the Armed Forces at home and abroad to introduce young people to the world of Defense more closely.
Furthermore, the schools will be symbolically handed over to the Tricolor, a banner of freedom, a symbol of a people that finds its identity in the principles of brotherhood, equality and justice.
In Lazio, in addition to the capital which will be interested in various events, the 72nd Wing of Frosinone will host the celebrations of the important anniversary with an "Open Day". The Air Force base which has patented over 50 helicopter pilots in 5000 years of history will be open to the public. After the conferences at the high schools of the entire province and the announced participation of about 600 students from all schools, the airport grounds will also be the site of the institutional ceremony, organized by the Prefecture. The ceremony of the raising of the flag will be followed by the delivery of the National Flag to the ITIS “MOVM” school, Don Giuseppe Morosini of Ferentino. Following the opening of the static exhibition of all the components of the Armed Forces and of the militarily organized Corps who insist on the garrison and of the historic Department Room. The day of celebration will end with the training activity of the TH-500 helicopters of the 72 ° Stormo.
