Digital: tax code also available at post offices

Pagano, advisor to the Aidr foundation: the national institutional tour "Youth, digitalisation, European 2024" an important moment to promote the opportunities offered by the Polis project thanks also to the PNRR funds

The initiative falls within the framework of the Polis project, which saw collaboration between the Revenue Agency, the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy and Poste Italiane to provide counter services directly to users. This joint effort represents a significant step towards simplifying and facilitating access to digital services for citizens, especially those residing in small towns. The Polis project, worth 1,12 billion euros, financed with 800 million through the Pnrr complementary plan and the rest by Poste Italiane, will involve as many as 6.933 post offices throughout the country. The initiative involves the creation of a one-stop shop where various public administration services will be provided, including the request for electronic identity cards, passports, civil status certificates, self-declarations of loss, reports of possession and transportation of weapons ( managed by the Ministry of the Interior). The services provided also include the request for re-issuance of the tax code, statement of debt positions, inspection of castle plans, exemption from RAI fees, delegations for vulnerable subjects (managed by the Revenue Agency). The Polis project will also cover a wide range of services, including judicial certificates (Ministry of Justice), ISEE, contribution statement, OBIS form for pensioners, single certification (INPS), issuing of a nautical licence, reporting and request for duplicate licenses (Ministry for Infrastructure).

Since the first national plan for e-government, launched in 2001 by the then Minister Lucio Stanca, billions of euros have been invested to make digital services available to citizens and businesses. Over twenty years later, the Meloni Government recognizes the crucial role of Poste Italiane as a facilitator between citizens and online services, focusing on the creation of local offices which will be fundamental to guarantee easy access to digital services.

“We are excited to see the implementation of this project which will facilitate the provision of fundamental services such as issuing the tax code at post offices. The collaboration between the Revenue Agency, the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy and Poste Italiane represents a model of synergy between public and private bodies that will help simplify the lives of citizens, in particular for those who reside in remote areas - declared Francesco Pagano, member of the Board of Directors of the Aidr Foundation. Our foundation will continue to support this modernization process also during the national institutional tour "Youth, digitalisation, europea2024", carried out with the offices of the European Parliament and Commission in Italy. We will also talk to our stewards about the opportunities offered by the Polis project thanks also to the PNRR funds – concluded Pagano”.
