Prison disorders S. Maria CV: transfer of prisoners ordered

In a statement, the Ministry of Grace and Justice reports that the unrest caused by a group of inmates of the Santa Maria Capua Vetere district ended in the early afternoon. The situation has now returned to normal with the detainees who have been brought back to the cells.

The Deputy Head of the DAP, Robert Tartaglia, visited the Danube ward where the unrest had taken place and met a large representation of Penitentiary Police personnel who work in that ward, listening to their requests and focusing in particular on the problems of the structure and the work of the staff.

Subsequently, a first meeting was held in which the Regional Provider of Campania, the Director of the institute, the Commander of the Penitentiary Police Department and the health workers present attended.

In the meantime, at the disposal of the Head of the Department Bernardo Petralia - who is monitoring the evolution of events and is heading towards the San Marino institution - the Mobile Operational Group of the Penitentiary Police is sending over 70 units to the institutions of Campania. Petralia also asked the DAP's Directorate General for Detainees and Treatment to order the immediate transfer of prisoners involved in the riots outside the region.
