The hunt for invalid phases does not stop. The State Police of Florence ascertained that the false invalid was able to walk and move regularly, but declared himself incapable, moving "publicly" in this wheelchair-bound city center. The investigative activities have found that man has led a real "double life", taking advantage of all the benefits deriving from the status of disabled, including the perception of pensions and emoluments - which have allowed him, among other things, to pay a "caregiver", who lived in his home - the use of various "preferential lanes" and a parking space under the house for the disabled.
The same person, inside the domestic walls, as well as outside the province, where he knew he was not known, moved regularly, walking without difficulty: the precautionary measure, in fact, was carried out at the airport of Peretola, on the return of the investigated by a pleasure trip abroad, and, on the occasion, he walked in total autonomy, although the car for the disabled with the wheelchair inside was waiting for him in that parking lot.
More generally, a true and proper modus vivendi of the recipient of the measure emerged, which altered the reality of the facts in terms of his health conditions to obtain benefits of any kind, and it was the constant and spasmodic search to prove his disability.
The fifty-five-year-old Florentine had in fact obtained over time a plurality of social security payments, mainly based on a false paraplegia, simulated starting from the 2007 following a road accident whose dynamic was denied during the investigation - in essence, it is it emerged that the road accident was completely simulated.
Furthermore, to validate his condition of false disability, he faced a high number of hospitalizations in public or private hospitals under agreement, for which the Judge for Preliminary Investigations, in addition to the undue receipt of pensions, also challenged the suspect damage caused to the National Health Service for hospitalization costs, for a total of tens of thousands of euros.
In the same investigative context, it emerged that the false invalid has repeatedly misled public officials, causing ideological falsehoods in public documents, during the aforementioned hospital admissions, functional to prove his disability or in any case pathologies on which they in turn base requests for emoluments; during the investigations, dozens of medical records were examined, based on pathologies artificially declared by the suspect to be recognized as being paraplegia.
