Eni acquires three wind projects in Italy for a total of 35 MW

The company continues in the strategy of developing energy from renewable sources and in the path of decarbonisation

Eni, through the subsidiary Eni New Energy, a group company operating in Italy, acquired 100% of the shares of CDGB Enrico, CDGB Laerte and Wind Park Laterza from Asja Ambiente Italia. The three wind farms, which will be built in the Municipality of Laterza, in Puglia, have a total capacity of 35,2 MW and an estimated annual production of around 81 GWh, which will allow a saving of CO2 emissions of 33.400 tons per year .

The three plants will consist of sixteen wind turbines of 2,2 MW each and will be connected to the National Transmission Grid. The construction of the plants will begin in the coming weeks and works are expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2021. This is the first wind project that Eni has created in Italy.

With this new acquisition, Eni is moving forward on its energy transition path, with the aim of achieving an 80% reduction in net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 over the entire cycle of its energy products.

Claudio Descalzi, Eni's CEO said: “Our goal is to build a company that will sell totally decarbonised products so that the end customer does not have to worry about emissions. We want to contribute to the challenges of an equitable energy transition, putting all our resources into the field and counting on our skills ".
