Eni makes a significant gas and condensate discovery in the onshore of the Niger delta

Eni, through its subsidiary NAOC (Eni 20%, operator, NNPC 60%, Oando 20%) carried out an important gas and condensate discovery in the deep geological sequences of the fields of Obiafu-Obrikom, in the OML 61 license, onshore of the Niger delta.

The Obiafu 41 Deep well has reached a total depth of 4.374m, encountering an important gas and condensate accumulation in the Oligocene delta sandy sequences characterized by the presence of over 130 m of high quality mineralized sands. The volumes in place of the accumulation are around 28 billion cubic meters of gas and 60 million barrels of condensate in the deep perforated sequences. The discovery has further potential that will be evaluated with a new drilling campaign.

The well has an estimated production capacity of around 3 million cubic meters of gas and three thousand barrels of condensate per day, and will be immediately put into production to increase NAOC gas production.

The discovery is part of a drilling campaign planned by NAOC JV to explore the opportunities of hitherto undrilled deep sequences with the opportunity for immediate time to market.

Eni is present in Nigeria by 1962 with production, development and exploration activities operated and not operated on a total of 30.049 Km2 in the onshore and offshore of the Niger Delta. In the 2018 the equity production was of 100.000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
