Eni, CNH Industrial and Iveco Group, united for sustainability initiatives in agriculture and transport

Eni, CNH Industrial (NYSE: CNHI / MI: CNHI) and Iveco Group (MI: IVG) have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop potential joint initiatives in the fields of agriculture, sustainable mobility and education, contributing, in respective business sectors, to social development in countries of common interest.

In detail, the parties will focus on strengthening the value chain in the agricultural sector to promote food safety, increase the efficiency of agricultural activities and facilitate market access by sector operators, also through the development of solutions always more innovative for more sustainable logistics and mobility of goods and people. Another important component of the collaboration includes professional training aimed at young people, students and entrepreneurs, as well as interaction with local communities, through an approach based on listening, dialogue and initiatives in favor of the specificities of the territories. The partnership will therefore make it possible to provide concrete social support thanks to investments in the creation of high-level training courses, thus expanding training opportunities for young people in view of their insertion into the world of work.

"This memorandum concretely shows the key role of the private sector in financing for development, as also underlined by the United Nations Conference in Addis Ababa in 2015. Three large private actors pool their skills and experiences in the development of cooperation projects, in technical training and mechanization to promote access to education and economic diversification in the reference contexts, giving impetus to sustainability in the agricultural supply chain in both the food and energy sectors ”, said Guido Brusco, Eni's General Manager Natural Resources.

“In the context in which we operate today, individual initiative is not always sufficient to effectively achieve the sustainability objectives set by the international community. As CNH Industrial we want to make our contribution to identify and develop innovative solutions and implement increasingly sustainable practices for agriculture. This is a sector that draws strength from quality, production, traceability and the link with the territory and which is the protagonist of the technological challenges of our present and future "declared Carlo Lambro, Brand President New Holland, which is a brand of CNH Industrial “The climate crisis, ecological transition, environmental protection are issues that require leading companies such as CNH Industrial to chart the course and be a driving force to face these challenges. Thanks to the agreement with Eni and Iveco Group, we are convinced that we can develop our actions in this direction even more efficiently and effectively ".

“The new sustainable transport solutions must make it possible to respond to the objectives of decarbonisation and environmental protection. At the same time, it is important to support ongoing training initiatives that are able to respond to the new challenges that the entire production chain will have to face in the countries in which we operate ”commented Michele Ziosi, Senior Vice President Institutional Relations & Sustainability of the Iveco Group. “The challenge of the ecological transition must bring with it opportunities for economic and social development. With Eni and CNH Industrial we will join forces to leverage each other's skills and continue our commitment to sustainable, accessible and inclusive mobility ".

The non-exclusive Memorandum of Understanding will open up innovative and concrete collaboration opportunities to help achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
