The head of the Presidency Council of the Libyan government of national unity al-Sarraj and the president of NOC Sanalla meet the CEO of Eni Claudio Descalzi

The head of the Presidential Council of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Fayez al-Sarraj, met today in Tripoli the CEO of Eni, Claudio Descalzi, to discuss Eni's constant support for the country regarding access to energy and business continuity.

Claudio Descalzi confirmed to al-Sarraj the full commitment of the company as regards operational activities and projects in the country, with particular focus on gas development. Eni's CEO also renewed Eni's commitment in the social field, in particular in supporting NOC for the supply of medical equipment for protection, diagnosis and treatment essential in the response against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Eni's CEO had previously met the President of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Mustafa Sanalla, with whom he took stock of the state of Eni's projects in the country. Particular attention was paid to the progress of the gas projects that will make it possible to extend the Bahr Essalam production plateau in the coming years and ensure the supply of gas to the local market, of which Eni will continue to be the main supplier in the coming years.

The parties discussed the launch of pilot projects in renewables in the country, making know-how, skills and development of new skills available. The introduction, for the first time, of renewable energies in Libya will respond to the increase in electricity for the population without increasing local consumption of hydrocarbons and CO2 emissions.

The CEO of Eni expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the President of NOC to safely resume the production and export of oil from all onshore oil fields, including those in which Eni has a stake, such as El-Feel and Abu -Attifel, and NOC's ongoing commitment to guarantee business continuity, logistical support and shifts at operating sites, as well as the commitment of Mellitah Oil & Gas management and employees and contractors, despite the current challenging environment and unprecedented.

Eni is the main international producer of hydrocarbons in Libya, where it currently has a net production of 170.000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
