Eni discovers gas and condensates in the 114 exploration block in the Song Hong basin, offshore Vietnam

Eni announces that the exploration well drilled in Block 114, located in the Song Hong basin, offshore Vietnam has confirmed the presence of gas and condensates in the prospect called Ken Bau. The results of the well reveal a significant potential for hydrocarbon accumulation. Eni Vietnam is the operator of Block 114 with a 50% stake; ESSAR E&P holds the remaining 50%.

The Ken Bau 1X exploration well is located in 95 meters of water depth and has reached 3606 meters crossing several gas-filled and sand condensed intervals interspersed with Miocene-era clays, with a total net reservoir thickness of over 100 meters .

The Ken-Bau 1X well was abandoned earlier than the original plan for technical reasons before reaching the deep levels that may contain important additional resources. Eni is already planning a drilling campaign early next year to test the significant additional potential of the discovery.

The result of Ken Bau represents an important turning point in the evaluation of the exploration potential of the Song Hong basin where Eni Vietnam operates at 100% also the nearby 116 Block.

Eni is present in Vietnam by the 2013 and operates 4 Blocks located in the areas below explored by Song Hong and Phu Khanh, in the offshore of central Vietnam.
