Eni and ENEA start partnerships for joint scientific and technological research activities

Eni and ENEA have signed a partnership for the launch of joint research activities in the field of strategic technological and scientific areas for Eni and of potential great impact for the country such as the circular economy, alternative energy and environmental protection. The agreement (Memorandum of Understanding) between the parties was signed today in Rome at the headquarters of the Agency by the President of ENEA, Federico Testa, and by the CEO of Eni, Claudio Descalzi.

On the basis of the agreement, Eni and ENEA will share their experience and expertise of excellence to develop a program of joint initiatives aimed at promoting innovative technological solutions. In particular, the parties will evaluate issues related to the circular economy and new sustainable economic models, to the production of energy with low or zero emissions of greenhouse gases (including concentrating solar, photovoltaic and biomass), to energy storage technologies, energy efficiency, digitization and monitoring and environmental protection, with particular reference to climate change.

"With ENEA we have different objectives in common in terms of research and innovation, and this collaboration will allow us to deepen also issues related to the environment and digitization, with potential significant impacts on the country system. Today we confirm our strategic commitment to the decarbonisation process, aimed at reducing emissions, promoting the use of natural gas and developing renewable energy. A commitment that is growing both in terms of dedicated internal resources and collaborations with the best research and innovation centers at national and international level. A commitment that also sees us focused on developing technological solutions with a view to circular economy applied to the business, which means expanding the concept of efficiency, with the reduction of waste and the exploitation of waste materials ".
