Eni: Congo investigation, company adheres to the hypothesis of an agreed sanction advanced by the Prosecutor's Office

As part of the investigation relating to some of Eni's activities in Congo, which sees the company and one of its managers investigated, Eni is pleased to note that this hypothesis of international corruption has also disappeared. Following the declassification of the disputed crime by the Public Prosecutor in undue induction, Eni adhered to the hypothesis of an agreed sanction advanced by the Public Prosecutor and submitted a request for it.

The company will therefore make available a consideration of € 11,8 million as an agreed sanction.

Eni would like to clarify that the agreement does not represent an admission of guilt by the company with respect to the disputed crime but an initiative aimed at avoiding the continuation of a judicial process that would entail a new and significant waste of resources for Eni and all related parties. The hypothesis also confirms the stability of the company's anti-bribery control systems.
