Eni signs for the merger of the Meleiha and Meleiha Deep concessions into a new concession called Merged Meleiha in the Western Desert in Egypt

Eni announces that it has signed an agreement with Egypt, the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and Lukoil for the union and extension to 2036, with the possibility of further extension to 2041, of the concessions of the contractual areas of Meleiha and Meleiha Deep, in Egypt's Western Desert.

The agreement, which marks another important result for Eni in the prolific basin of the Egyptian Western Desert, will make it possible to enhance, through improved contractual conditions, the considerable resources of the area, adding new exploration potential thanks to a high-performance 3D seismic acquisition campaign. resolution and drilling of exploration and development wells.

The construction of a new gas treatment plant, which will be connected to the Western Desert Gas Complex in Alexandria, Egypt, will also offer the possibility of further enhancing the region's gas reserves, strengthening Eni's role as the largest gas producer in Egypt.

The company will leverage the expertise of local contractors already engaged in the implementation of major projects in Egypt, including the fast-track development of the giant Zohr gas field.

The operator of the concessions is Agiba, a 76/24 joint venture between EGPC and Eni, through its subsidiary IEOC Production. IEOC holds a XNUMX% stake in the concession while the other partner, Lukoil, holds the remaining XNUMX%.

Eni has been present in Egypt since 1954 where it is the country's main producer. Eni's current net production is around 320.000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
