Eni awarded by Energy Intelligence with the Energy Innovation Award

Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi will receive the award during the Energy Intelligence Forum in London

Eni was awarded with the Energy Intelligence Energy Innovation Award, in recognition of the strategies implemented to achieve the energy transition and the acceleration of low-carbon investments. The award will be presented to Eni's Chief Executive Officer, Claudio Descalzi, in London during the 2022 Energy Intelligence Forum, which will be held from 4 to 6 October.

Eni ranked first in terms of emissions reduction targets, portfolio resilience and business model transformation, and has consistently achieved a top 3 score in the Transition Strategy Index. In addition, in terms of low-carbon investments, the company has significantly stepped up its activities for 2020-21.

Eni has progressively accelerated its energy transition path that will lead to zero emissions from its industrial processes and products and their consumption by customers in 2050. A transformation process started in 2014 with huge investments in research and technological development, based on the development and adoption of multiple technologies and industrial solutions, already available or implementable in the short-medium term, capable of affecting all areas of decarbonisation in order to implement a concrete and immediately practicable strategy, marked by intermediate objectives in continuous improvement.

Since its inception in 2012, the Energy Innovation Award honors the energy company that made the most significant improvements in terms of adaptation to the energy transition over the previous year. The award is based on quantitative data, measured by the Energy Intelligence benchmark system. The winner is selected from a shortlist of candidates identified by an independent jury made up of financial, government, university and advisory experts.

Eni's CEO, Claudio Descalzi, commented: “I am very pleased to receive this award, which reflects the effectiveness and concreteness of our irreversible energy transition strategy, combined with the continuous commitment to guarantee the security of supplies and the access to energy to the communities of the countries in which we operate. Today more than ever, at a time when international scenarios put us in front of the reality of economic and industrial systems still based mainly on traditional energy models, we must remain firmly anchored to our decarbonisation objectives, which are fundamental to further increase the our energy independence ".
