Eni Sustainable Mobility: 100% diesel from renewable raw materials drives the trucks of the Spinelli Group

Eni Sustainable Mobility now powers 150 Spinelli Group fleet vehicles with HVOlution, the biofuel produced in the Venice and Gela biorefineries

Eni Sustainable Mobility and the Spinelli Group, leader in the integrated logistics sector, have signed a two-year contract to power the Spinelli Group fleet with HVOlution, the diesel produced with 100% renewable raw materials*. The Spinelli Group fleet has over 300 heavy transport vehicles, of which 150 latest generation Euro 6d, whose engines are compatible with pure biofuels. The supply of biofuel to the Spinelli Group is made possible by the network of Eni Sustainable Mobility points of sale: the product is now available in 57 service stations and, by the end of the month, it will be in 150 points of sale in Italy (here the interactive map).

An important agreement for Eni Sustainable Mobility, which demonstrates how the company can accompany heavy transport operators, such as the Spinelli Group, in the decarbonisation process. Eni Sustainable Mobility has been operating since January 2023 and combines biorefining, biomethane and the sale of mobility products in its over 5.000 service stations in Italy and abroad. Eni Sustainable Mobility aims to evolve into a multi-service and multi-energy society, generating and releasing new value for the decarbonisation of transport and for the provision of services to people on the move.

The Spinelli Group, founded in 1963, operates in the entire supply chain management of the container sector, from arrival in port to delivery to the final customer, offering shipping companies integrated solutions including multimodal transport, warehousing and customs brokerage activities . For the Spinelli Group, the agreement for the supply of HVOlution, a biofuel that can contribute to the immediate decarbonisation of the transport sector, represents a crucial step in the development of its ESG policies towards a zero-emissions future, and confirms the Group's commitment to achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the UN, in particular SDG 12, Responsible consumption and production, and SDG 13, Fight against climate change.

The supply of HVO diesel to Spinelli Group vehicles is managed through Multicard, Eni Sustainable Mobility's fuel card system designed for those who manage small, medium and large fleets: based on needs, Multicard can create a personalized, tailor-made offer , for the supply of all energy vectors available at Eni service stations, including the new HVOlution.

HVOlution is a biofuel produced from waste raw materials and plant residues, and from oils generated from crops not in competition with the food supply chain which are supplied through a network of agri-hubs under development by Eni in various African countries. These raw materials are treated in Eni's biorefineries in Venice and Gela where, thanks to the proprietary Ecofining™ technology, HVO diesel biofuel (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) is produced. HVOlution is a biofuel made from 100% pure HVO.
