According to the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Eni is among the 10 Top Performing companies worldwide

Eni has been included for the third consecutive year among the 10 best performing companies for its sustainability reporting in the analysis of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development which evaluated 168 world leading companies.

“We are proud of this result, which confirms the solidity of our strategy. We have developed a concrete, detailed, economically sustainable and technologically proven plan, committing ourselves to achieving net zero emissions by 2050. Our goals are clear, as stated in our mission. We want to play a leadership role in the transition, protecting the environment and at the same time ensuring energy for everyone, and the recognition of WBCSD encourages our efforts in this direction, ”said Claudio Descalzi, Eni's Chief Executive Officer.

Eni has been recognized as an example of good practice for the explicit alignment of its strategic approach to sustainability with the mission and results of the materiality assessment in its Eni for 2020 report. Eni's strategy is focused on the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and has plans for further material topics. The positively assessed elements also include the strength of Eni's roadmap for all material topics of the report and the complete overview of the progress achieved in 2020 together with the short, medium and long-term objectives that outline the future path for each topic.

Eni for 2020, the company's latest report published in May 2021, illustrates the most recent results of the decarbonization process. By 2050, Eni aims to achieve complete carbon neutrality for all its products and operations. The commitment to accelerate the energy transition is reflected in the 2020-2022 Long-Term Incentive Plan, which provides targets directly linked to the decarbonization, energy transition and circular economy objectives. To further support its objectives, Eni has also introduced a target relating to installed renewable capacity in the remuneration policy, which replaces the indicator on the resources explored.

The WBCSD is the leading global organization led by the CEOs of more than 200 leading sustainable companies in the world, who are collectively committed to accelerating the system transformations needed for a net zero, positive for nature and fairer future. The companies that are part of it come from all sectors of activity and from all the major economies, representing a combined turnover of more than 8,5 trillion dollars and 19 million employees.
