Tips for traveling safely with our animal friends
Animals also go on vacation. Beach and mountains are more and more "pet" and then how to face a journey with our four-legged friends? The best advice for traveling in total safety comes thanks to the educational campaign of the Veterinary Medical Order of Rome, which the State Police also joined.
As part of the collaboration, a vademecum was drawn up to deal with traveling with our four-legged friends in peace.
Not only useful tips, such as due attention to the rules for transporting dogs and cats in the appropriate supports provided by law, but also rules to be observed in case of accidents or sightings of animals on the roads, in which it is recommended to contact emergency numbers avoiding stopping and getting out of the car in an attempt to stop the animal, a dangerous behavior that could cause further accidents.
For the well-being of our animals on the road, remember to: make stops, get a bowl of fresh water, travel, where possible, in the less hot hours, prepare the appropriate documents in case of travel abroad and evaluate the disturbances related to car sickness with your veterinarian.
Having an animal implies the awareness of having to be responsible owners, so it is also important that the dog is equipped with a microchip, the only true identity card of the animal, and that it is registered in the canine registry.
