Libya Haftar asks for the immediate return of Perrone, while the palace of the Presidential Council is attacked

The aired hypothesis of entrusting the Tripoli embassy to Giuseppe Buccino, former Italian representative in Libya before the first closure of the embassy, prompted the Libyan authorities to forcefully demand the return of Ambassador Giuseppe Perrone. Giuseppe Buccino would not be welcome due to his proximity to Islamist circles in Tripoli, and in particular to the Muslim brotherhood. At this point, General Kalifa Haftar himself asked for Ambassador Perrone to return to Tripoli. In the meantime, some demonstrations took place in Tripoli due to the precarious conditions in which the population finds itself without wages and medical care for some time.

Protesters broke into the government headquarters of the Presidential Council (PC) in Tareeq Al-Sikka in Tripoli, demanding concrete answers to their requests. Officials inside the building threatened the authorities to go on strike. Protesters had to forcibly enter the headquarters while they had been outside the building for hours, where none of the government officials or staff agreed to speak to them, sources told The Lybian Observer. The same sources reported that some demonstrators destroyed part of the outer fence and then broke into the building. Some of the protesters asked for medical treatment and money because they were injured during the fighting of the 2014 Fajr Libia (Alba Libya) operation, while others were injured in the recent fighting in Tripoli.

Other protesters - employees and workers - demanded to receive their salaries which have been cut since 2014. Some of the protesters also expressed disappointment at the high salaries received by the officials, while the martyrs' families receive only 1000 dinars a month. Photos taken inside the building showed two Presidential Council members Ahmed Mitig and Abdelsalam Kajman talking to the protesters. The protest took place while the Prime Minister is on an official visit to Jordan, along with Central Bank Governor Al-Siddiq Al-Kabeer and other officials.
