(by Massimiliano D'Elia) Italian Minister of Economy and Finance Giovanni Tria yesterday was at Palazzo Chigi by Premier Giuseppe Conte from 13.30 to 15.30. A very tense meeting, just before the premier met, on his own, the other two vice premieres, Luigi Di Maio and Matteo Salvini. Minister Tria has reported that he considers inadequate and insufficient the proposal that Prime Minister Conte intends to propose to Junker next Tuesday. A summit that sources close to Junker, is not yet confirmed given the swing of Italian decisions: "Junker will meet Giuseppe Conte only with a serious and shareable proposal".
Today the Chamber of Deputies will vote for confidence in a budget that is not yet final. The definition will probably be Monday. Giuseppe Conte is trying, in the meantime, to convince Matteo Salvini and Luigi Di Maio to expand the times of the beginning of the two most important measures to the majority shareholders of the yellow-green government, citizenship income and the 100 share for pensions.
It would be desirable, says Conte, to start the two measures from June 2019 to save 7 billions of euros needed to bring down the deficit-GDP to 2 per cent. Faced with the absolute denial of Di Maio and Salvini, Giuseppe Conte will most likely propose to Junker a deficit-GDP equal to 2,1 per cent. Value certainly not appreciated by the EU Commission and in particular by Commissioner Pierre Moscovici who considers the 1,9 per cent to be reasonable. The French Moscovici, however, pretends to forget that France for the third consecutive year will border the 3 percent of the deficit-GDP ratio (this year the revolt of the yellow waistcoats - the French 007 see in the protest even a possible state). Two weights and two measures? The numbers make think of this.
It is no coincidence, in fact, that Minister Matteo Salvini, yesterday met the German ambassador in Italy Viktor Eibling to look for a bank of Berlin to the French shamelessness: "I think the relationship between Italy and Germany must be even closer. In the place of a Franco-German axis I see an Italian-German axis well, "Salvini said at the end of the meeting. In response, the German ambassador: "Italy has behaved in a very constructive manner compared to the Commission's objections. It's a good sign! ".
Il Giornale reports that Minister Tria would send a text message to Brunetta: "so I can not take it anymore, I am subjected to an ambush after the other. The last one was to send me before the parliamentary committee returning from the Ecofin. The only thing that interests me is to save the country. That is my light. Otherwise, if it were just for me, even now ... ". Lapidary words that make it clear that Tria feels now isolated and that if it depended on him would leave the government office very willingly. Position denied by Via XX Settembre, but apparently it is in the air.
Deputy Prime Minister Luigi Di Maio, refer to some sources of the building, could propose an "ad hoc" law decree during the 2019 for the two most expensive measures of the maneuver, so that the EU Commission can now read a deficit-GDP ratio compatible at the request of the 2 percent.
