"Drugs & Summer", AIFA's advice to use drugs safely in the hot season

The General Manager, Melazzini. “AIFA relaunches and renews the Farmaci & Estate campaign to sensitize patients to the correct and safe use of medicines during the summer. The video pills and the brochure created for the occasion serve to remind everyone that in the summer a few more precautions are needed to store and transport drugs in the most correct way. In addition to these practical tips, it is important to always read the package leaflet carefully and consult your doctor or pharmacist in case of doubts ".

6 video pills to share on social networks and 1 brochure to download, print and store to remind all patients, especially those who are about to leave for holidays, that in summer you need to pay more attention to conservation, transport and the use of drugs. The sun and high temperatures put the preservation of medicines at risk; not to reduce its effectiveness, quality and safety, just follow a few simple but useful measures.

The video pills that AIFA will disseminate starting from today through their social media channels and which can also be downloaded from the Agency's website, reproduce the campaign's key messages.

  1. In summer it is preferable to use solid formulations, less susceptible to high temperatures.
  2. The drugs should be stored in a cool and dry place, at a temperature never higher than 25 degrees.
  3. Some drugs can induce skin reactions with sun exposure, it is useful to consult with your doctor, avoid exposure between 11 and 16 and always use sunscreen.
  4. Each drug should be kept in its original packaging to know the expiration date and have the package leaflet available.
  5. In the car the drugs should not be exposed to the sun, it is important to use a thermal container and not put them in the trunk but in the cockpit.
  6. If you are traveling by air, remember to put your medication in your hand baggage and take the prescriptions with you, especially if it is a life-saving medicine.

At the same time, AIFA has also created a brochure available online on the institutional website in web and printable format.

AIFA invites healthcare professionals and all stakeholders in the supply chain to disseminate campaign materials, which are innovative and engaging tools to sensitize the patient.
