Felt finally "Libero"

(by Massimiliano D'Elia) This morning I was scrolling through the press review, among the many news one literally made me jump. Alessandro Sallusti on the newspaper, on the front page, titled “Felt resigns as a journalist". Many might think, it was time to get out of the box, to retire as well.

But the reality is very different: he would have asked for his resignation from the order of journalists, since according to Sallusti, Vittorio is tired of the numerous disciplinary measures and is tired of always feeling with a sword of Damocles on his head, the threat of suspension or radiation from ' register. So after 50 years of career and having founded the newspaper "Libero" in 2000, Vittorio Feltri resigned in the hands of the president of the order, Charles Verna. But why is it important for a journalist to be registered with the order? To practice the profession of journalist and be able to aspire to direct a paper or digital newspaper, you must be registered with the Order.

Vittorio Feltri would thus renounce a managerial position only to be able to express his thoughts freely as stipulated in Article 21 of the Constitution, which guarantees freedom of expression to any citizen in any form and by any means.

Alessandro Sallusti then explains why it is better for a journalist to resign than to be suspended or canceled from the order: "no newspaper can publish your writings any more and if a director were to host you in suspension or in writing he would automatically do the same "If you resign from the Order instead,  Sallusti points out, you can no longer practice the profession but leaving political control you can write anywhere, without compensation, like any ordinary citizen. Basically. To be able to continue writing, Vittorio Feltri - imagining that he would soon be guillotined, I think - had to give up his profession. "

How bad is this? If you write and report "crap" everything is fine, if you go out of the way and tell the truth you are forced to resign. You are forced, as in the case of Vittorio, to give up the profession and put away a life spent in the editorial office. Let's talk about Vittorio Feltri who for better or for worse is an icon of Italian journalism, certainly with a strong and not very mild character, is undoubtedly a reference for all of us journalists, those who like him deepen the news to be able to inform readers with total and unconditional freedom.

The appeal is that Carlo Verna does not accept the resignation of Felt, because by losing one like him from order we all lose: let's hold on to a champion of Italian journalism.
