Polish citizen suspected of attempted murder of young Israeli tourist in Rome arrested

Last night, the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Milan, together with personnel of the State Police under the police force of Rome and the Polfer Lazio compartment, subjected a 24-year-old Polish citizen to "detention as a suspect of a crime" in Italy without fixed abode, seriously suspected of being the perpetrator of the attempted murder of a young Israeli tourist, committed on December 31 inside the Rome Termini Station.

The young man had been stopped on the afternoon of 3 January 2023 at Milan Central Station, when two Carabinieri, husband and wife, off duty, boarding a train for Brescia, had noticed the man, already sitting on board the convoy, recognizing him in the attacker of the Israeli tourist thanks to the images released by the media.

In particular, the subject, in addition to not having other people's "luggage" with him other than a large envelope, wore exactly the same clothes immortalized by the surveillance cameras of the Capitoline railway station.

Without ever losing sight of the suspect, while the Deputy Brigadier, a 36-year-old effective at the Milan Radiomobile Nucleus, alerted his colleagues in his Department by telephone, his wife, a 37-year-old Appointed, active at the presiding infirmary of the Lombardy Carabinieri Legion, was looking for reinforcements at the station. Suddenly, before departure, the suspect, suspicious, tried to disappear

getting off the train.

At that point the Deputy Brigadier decided to intervene, blocking him also with the help of colleagues from the Radiomobile Nucleus and Polfer staff, who had arrived in the meantime.

Once secured, the subject was taken to the "Montebello" barracks in Milan.

During the search, two knives were found - one of which probably had traces of blood - and a cutter, seized and placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authority for subsequent technical-scientific investigations.

Completely identified, the man was then subjected to a police arrest and then made available to the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office for the consequent validation of the provision.
