32 students of the "Giulio Douhet" Military Aeronautical School have sworn allegiance to the Italian Republic at the flag square of the Institute of Military Aeronautical Sciences
In the presence of the Ministry of Defense, Hon. Lorenzo Guerini, i 32 students of the 1st Course of the "Giulio Douhet" Military Aeronautical School of Florence have sworn loyalty to the Italian Republic and to the institutions, pledging to honor the founding principles of the Air Force, such as ideals of loyalty, courage and a sense of duty.
The Ceremony, chaired by Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Squad General Luca Goretti, took place in the presence of numerous civil, military and religious authorities of the Tuscan territory. Also present the Commander of the Air Force Schools and of the 3rd Air Region, the Air Squad General, Silvano Frigerio.
After thanking the intervening authorities, the Commander of the School, Colonel Davide Rosellini invited the girls and boys of the course Taurus to experience this ceremony as "one of the dearest and most exciting moments of their life, because in the precise moment in which one's promise of loyalty to the Italian Republic is shouted to the sky, one's skills and energies, but above all one's honor, are made available to the country ".
And it was precisely at the end of the intervention of the Commander of the School, that the solemn act of the Oath of allegiance to the Republic, pronounced before the Institute banner, and greeted by the flyby of a formation of two aircraft Euro Fighter of the 4 ° Stormo of Grosseto (GR) and two Tornado from 6 ° Stormo of Ghedi (BS).
The baptism of the Corso took place afterwards Taurus, in which the Air Brigade General Luigi Casali, Chief of Staff of the Air Force Schools Command took part as godfather of the course. This moment, during which the pennant is symbolically entrusted to the Capo Corso, represents an ideal handover between old and new generations of the Armed Force.
The Chief of Staff of the Air Force, who welcomed the girls and boys of the Corso to the Arma Azzurra Taurus and, addressing the students directly, he highlighted how the choice they made "it will require sacrifices, but it will be amply rewarded by the satisfactions you will reap, by the indissoluble bonds that you will forge and above all by the awareness that today you are laying the foundations to become protagonists of our beloved country ".
“The beginning of an adventure that, thanks to your passion and your commitment, will become reality. In a few years we will be proud to pass the baton to you, certain of placing it in the safe hands of very young citizens, able to make the best choices for our national community in full compliance with the founding values of our Democracy ". With these words the Minister Guerini he wanted to pay homage to the young students, recognizing them “The expression of the most precious qualities and values embodied by our beloved country: ethics, the spirit of service, self-denial and respect for the rules. Features that will distinguish you forever as your careers continue. "

Il "Giulio Douhet" Air Force Military High School (inaugurated in 2006) as well as the other Military Schools (Nunziatella of Naples, Teulié of Milan and Morosini of Venice) is a secondary education institution, which carries out the courses of the second three years in the classical and scientific addresses, to which access by public competition.
Currently there are 104 students, 50 boys and 54 girls in force at the Douhet School, divided into the Rigel Course in the third and last year of attendance, the Sirio Course in the second year of attendance and the Taurus Course, incorporated on 06 September 2021.
The Institute of Aeronautical Military Sciences is a higher institute for the training and dissemination of military aeronautical doctrines: it is run by a General Officer and is placed under the command of the Air Force Schools Commander / Commander of the 3rd Air Region. The “Giulio Douhet” Military Aeronautical School, established in 2006, is in turn dependent on ISMA. The mission of the Institute is therefore broad and differentiated also due to the specific nature of the entities and Departments employed by it. As a higher education institution, ISMA is called upon to raise the general cultural, technical, scientific and professional level of Air Force Officers, developing and perfecting their preparation in view of the managerial and managerial tasks that will be entrusted to them in the continuation of their respective careers.
