The National Aerobatic Team will roll out the longest Tricolor in the world on the starting grid

On Sunday 24 April the Frecce Tricolori will fly over the “Enzo e Dino Ferrari” International Circuit, starting the “Formula 1 Rolex Grand Prix of Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna”. The National Aerobatic Team, with its 9 MB 339 PAN aircraft, will carry out a series of passages to follow the notes of the Mameli Anthem, spreading the longest Tricolor in the world in the sky.

The car event, which will start today Friday 22nd with qualifying, will be held in the presence of the public after two editions behind closed doors. "After the spectacular overflight of last year, this is a very welcome return of the Frecce Tricolori to Imola, which on the one hand seals the opening of the F1 Grand Prix to the public, after the blockade imposed last year by the pandemic, and on the other hand, the return of our Autodrome to the official calendar of the F1 World Championship until 2025 ″ - underlines the mayor of Imola, Marco Panieri -.

"Spreading the Italian flag once again on the Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix is a source of great pride for us." These are the words of the Commander of the Frecce Tricolori, Ten. Col. Stefano Vit. "Last year I had the honor of flying over the Imola racetrack from Capo Formazione, this year instead I will be on the ground as Commander, a new emotion that I am happy to share with all Formula 1 fans who will finally be able to see a Grand Prix again. "

Consolidated is, in general, the union between the world of engines and the Air Force. In fact, since 1923, the Arma Azzurra, which is preparing to celebrate its centenary, has shared with the Formula 1 teams the propensity for speed, innovation, research and technology, as well as team spirit, of course. These values, carried forward by the constant work of men and women in blue, in synergy with the Italian System, allow the Air Force to be able to carry out the mission to which it is called: to operate at the service of the country for the defense and safeguarding. of the community.

The 313 Acrobatic Training Group "Frecce Tricolori"

The 313 ° Acrobatic Training Group, this is the official name of the Frecce Tricolori, is a Flight Department of the Air Force which since 1 March 1961, date of its establishment in Rivolto (UD), has the task of representing the skills of the entire Armed Force. The mission assigned to the Frecce Tricolori is in fact to represent in the eyes of Italy and the world, through their spectacular acrobatics, the founding values of the Air Force: professionalism, team spirit, constant commitment and the search for improvement.

The Frecce Tricolori, heirs of a long and glorious acrobatic tradition of the past, are today a Department made up of about 100 soldiers, who have the grateful task of representing, through their work, the more than 40.000 men and women of the Air Force.

The National Aerobatic Team is preparing to celebrate, on May 1st, the traditional event of the last Acrobatic Training at the Rivolto Air Base. This date, which coincides with the anniversary of the first air show of the Frecce Tricolori (1 May 1961 at the Trento-Gardolo airport) annually marks the end of an intense training period and the start of the acrobatic season.

The event, traditionally reserved for authorities, members of the Frecce Tricolori Clubs and of the Arma Aeronautica Association, will be held this year in full compliance with the current regulations to contain the infection from Covid-19.

In the coming months, the Frecce Tricolori, compatibly with the normalization of the pandemic situation, will be involved in numerous events in Italy and abroad.
