There are many topics covered by Libya to the Covid emergency in Europe up to the Iranian nuclear agreement. The two foreign ministers of France and Italy met for 3 hours, a meeting that was also extended to the staff of ministers but also to the heads of the two intelligence agencies.

Libya. "A central element of our talks was the Libyan dossier, on which we promoted a confrontation between our intelligence“, Said Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio during the press conference on the sidelines of the meeting. "We must work together to maximize the role of all neighboring countries in stabilizing Libya, the situation on the ground remains worrying, all violence must stop and an arms embargo is implemented".

Chapter Iran. "We share the same analysis, the same concern and we share the same goal of a return to JCPOA“, Underlined Le Drian who then recalled the Italian ambassador killed in Congo. "I would like to emphasize that France is dismayed and expresses its condolences for the assassination of Ambassador Attanasio and the carabiniere who accompanied him. We are totally in solidarity in Italy's work against terrorism".

France and Italy have agreed for Libya that it is necessary to proceed with the confirmation of the provisional government of Abdulhamid Dbeibah until the next elections scheduled for December 24th. Confirmation should take place on Monday 8 March from the House of Representatives even if Dbeibah's political project does not seem to take root: it cannot find support either among deputies and much less in the Libyan political world in a broader sense.

The turning point in Libya came when France downsized the general's aims Khalifa Haftar, Paris has opened up to new political dynamics in Libya, also opening up to a collaboration that reduces rivalries with Rome.

Di Maio: "Libya has entered a crucial phase of its path towards stability, through an important institutional transition, and therefore it is very important that the House of Representatives meets, as planned, on March 8 next to trust the government of national unity ".

The two ministers also discussed Tunisia and the Sahel belt where Italy is preparing to deploy other soldiers alongside the French military mission that fights jihadist terrorism.
