From today to February 25, the European Multi Mission Frigate (FREMM) Carlo Margottini will be parked in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, the fourth stage of the naval campaign in the Middle East and the Arabian Sea (MOMA) which sees the Naval unit of the Navy carry out presence and surveillance in the area, to protect maritime traffic lines of national interest.
The campaign is also part of the activities carried out in the field of international cooperation and dialogue between the countries of the area with which Italy has important political-diplomatic, economic and industrial relations, thus representing an important opportunity for promote the "Country System" in an integrated way, flanking and supporting the activities of important representatives of the national defense industry such as Fincantieri, Leonardo, MBDA and Electronics, whose collaboration with the Navy and Defense made the same campaign possible .
After the recent stop in the United Arab Emirates where he participated in the "Naval Defense Exhibition 2019 "(NAVDEX 2019) under the "International Maritime Defense Exhibition & Conference " (IDEX 2019) in Abu Dhabi, Nave Margottini will arrive in Saudi Arabia to witness the Navy's attention to technological developments and collaborations with the national industry in the design and construction of advanced platforms and systems such as FREMM class units. After Dammam, the Margottini naval campaign will continue towards Kuwait City (Kuwait), Doha (Qatar) and Muscat (Oman).
SHIP MARGOTTINI - FOLLOW THE CAMPAIGN
The frigate Carlo Margottini, under the command of the frigate captain Marco Guerriero, is the third unit of the Italian-French program FREMM (European Multi-Mission Frigate) and the second in the ASW version (Anti Submarine Warfare). The 29 Jun 2013 was launched at the Riva Trigoso shipyard (GE), delivered to the 27 February 2014 Navy and received the 22 2016 April XNUMX in Reggio Calabria.

From the entry into service ship Margottini took part:
- in 2014, to the Operation Mare Nostrum;
- in February 2015 at the anti-submarine drill Smart Huntcollaborating with the German Navy;
- in June of the 2016 to the activity with the United States Navy for the promotion of the Green Fleet;
- in May 2017 at the Open Sea exercise 2017;
- in March 2018 at its first campaign of naval diplomacy in the Middle East.
Finally, the ship participated in the operation Safe Sea and to the operation Atalanta, carrying out tasks of presence, surveillance and maritime security.
