Director General of the Gambia Antidrug Agency visiting Rome- DCSA

Today, 25 November, a meeting was held for the first time between the Central Directorate for Anti-Drug Services and the Gambia Antidrug Agency, with the presence of the respective Directors and their direct collaborators.

This bilateral meeting between the two branches is of great importance, aimed at developing specific and increasingly effective police cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking between Italy and the Gambia, a country of crucial importance in the Atlantic cocaine route by sea, for transit and storage of this narcotic from South America, with final destination Europe.

During the fruitful information exchange, the Gambian Anti-Drug Director thanked the DCSA and asked to continue the collaboration, already developed also through the specific training activity in the anti-drug field.

It should be emphasized that, today, the reciprocal willingness to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the fight against international drug trafficking has emerged, through a specific bilateral agreement, an Antidrug Operational Memorandum, of which the two Directors are shortly wishing to sign.
