Tillerson: For Venezuela all the hypotheses are on the table also that of the oil embargo

Rex Tillerson, US secretary of state, during a press conference stated that the United States, after the failure of democracy in Venezuela, is considering the possibility of imposing sanctions on Venezuela's oil sales.

The government of Nicolas Maduro is held responsible for the death of more than sixty protesters and police officers who took place in the last two months during the street clashes.

Venezuela exports for the 95% only crude oil, which is also the only source of access to dollars. If Washington were to impose Iranian-style sanctions against the country, it would no longer be able to sell it to anyone, because any buyer would be cut off from the American financial circuit, the most important in the world.

In fact, this type of sanctions is effective for the purpose of economically isolating Caracas and would have a devastating effect because the absence of dollars in the country would aggravate the already heavy crisis in the country that could degenerate into a civil war.
