Khalifa Haftar met with Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu at the headquarters of the Russian Defense Ministry, during which they discussed ways to resolve the Libyan crisis and the fight against "terrorism". Haftar led a delegation of commanders from his armed forces to meet with senior Russian officials and discuss developments in the national and international arena and bilateral relations between the two countries.
The visit comes before the Palermo Conference on Libya, which will be held on 12 and 13 November.
