Tumors: Here are the numbers presented on "2017 Cancer Numbers in Italy"

According to what was published in the volume "Cancer in Italy 2017 numbers", now in its seventh edition. It is a veritable boom in the diagnosis of lung cancer among women: 13.600 in 2017 (+ 49% in 10 years), due to the strong spread of smoking among Italian women ”.

The volume photographs the cancer universe in real time thanks to the work of the Italian Association of Medical Oncology (Aiom), the Italian Association of Cancer Registries (Airtum) and the Aiom Foundation.

Presented today at the Ministry of Health, he also specifies that "pancreas, thyroid and melanoma are also growing in both sexes, while stomach and colorectal cancers are decreasing, thanks also to the greater extension of screening programs ".

The tumor that recorded in 2014 the most deaths, is underlined, is that of the lung (33.386), followed by colon-rectum (18.671), breast (12.330 deaths), pancreas (11.186) and stomach (9.557).
