The expert commented on the latest developments related to the war in Ukraine, first of all believing very unlikely that the conflict will spread to Moldova and Transnistria, mostly “for a geographical reason. Moldova borders with Romania, which is a landlocked NATO country. Therefore, Putin should make an amphibious landing in Odessa and then proceed from there to Moldova. It seems absolutely unlikely to me, I think it is an exaggeration of the media”.
Orsini then drew attention to the statements of Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, Chief of Defense Staff: "There is no military solution to the war in Ukraine. Neither Russia will succeed in conquering Kiev, nor Kiev in driving the Russians back beyond the Donbass. In fact, Cavo Dragone disavows the line of the Draghi and Meloni governments and of Biden himself "Orsini emphasized.

"During the "Carta Bianca" program broadcast yesterday evening on RAI 3, Professor Alessandro Orsini freely and biasedly interpreted some of my statements made to a national newspaper in the context of an interview. About, in addition to rejecting any attempt to exploit my words, I repeat that, in the current war in Ukraine, there are no spaces for interpretation, nor is it possible to leave room for doubts that perhaps they are staying in other people's homes. There is an aggressor, Russia, and an attacked country, Ukraine. Since the initial stages of the Russian invasion, I have firmly shared the need to provide support, backing and help, including military, to a people who are defending their national borders, their values and above all their freedom.
As Chief of Defense Staff of Italy, I reaffirm that our commitment, since 24 February 2022, is the same as today and will be the same tomorrow, as a NATO country and as a founding member of the European Union. I firmly believe that it is a duty for every democratic country to support the resistance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces against the cowardly Russian invasion which has not spared the atrocities of war even to the civilian population, causing too many innocent victims in violation of the most elementary norms of International Law. Exploiting my analysis, in which I state that an exclusively military solution to the conflict is not possible without a simultaneous diplomatic action that forces Russia to sit down at the Peace table, it is therefore offensive and deceptive. One thing is certain: until Russia shows that it concretely wants to sit down at the Peace table, we will continue to support Ukraine in compliance with the decisions adopted by the Parliament of the Italian Republic”.
