Today, the 4th Mounted Carabinieri Regiment performed the famous Carosello, on the occasion of the celebrations of the 90th anniversary of the foundation of the Municipality. The performance took place at the Arena del Castello Vecchio, an evocative setting to celebrate local history and traditions. In an almost summery climate, the mayor Pierluigi Sanna played host and opened the event in the presence of numerous civil, military and religious authorities. Many citizens came to witness a unique event and, in some ways, difficult to repeat since the Regiment rarely moves outside of Rome.
The Carabinieri fanfare opened the ceremony, accompanied by the mascot, Briciola the dog, who brought a touch of sympathy to the event. The Carosello, which was performed with dozens of horses and riders of the force, enchanted those present with choreographic movements and historical figures. Touching was the moment in which three horses collapsed to the ground simulating the defeat in battle.
The streets surrounding the Castle, at the end of the event, were crowded with citizens who admired the horses of the Carabinieri Regiment up close: all together to share a beautiful day of celebration.
The day is part of a larger program of celebrations for the 90th anniversary of the Municipality, which includes exhibitions, awards and other cultural and historical events. The choice of October as the commemorative month is linked to the foundation of the first public nursery school in Colleferro in 1935, a symbolic date for the community that looks at its history with pride and participation.
