The MiC at the art and restoration exhibition between new technologies and training

The Ministry of Culture will be present at the 9th edition of Art and Restoration Hall of Florence, which will take place from 25 April to 1 May 2024 in the Monumental pavilion of the Fortezza da Basso, simultaneously with MIDA, the International Crafts Exhibition.

Restoration, Italian excellence in the world, will be analyzed in all its facets, from methodological analysis to applied research, from technological experimentation to training.

Over one hundred speakers, including directors, archaeologists, restorers, architects and experts from the MiC Higher Education Schools will participate in workshops and meetings promoted by the Ministry institutes and coordinated by the Events-Exhibitions and Demonstrations Service of the General Secretariat.

The theme of training will be dominant on the first day with the Opificio delle Pietre Dure (OPD). In the Sala della Scherma (26 April, 9.30-13.30), the OPD conference will be divided into two sessions: the first will illustrate the results of recent conservation and restoration projects on Florentine masterpieces, while the second will be dedicated to the results of the diploma thesis discussed in the last two years at the OPD School of Higher Education and Study.

The fiscal measure of the Art Bonus, in the afternoon of the same day, will then be at the center of the conference in the room set up within the institutional space of the MiC. In this meeting promoted by ALES SpA, MiC's in-house company, responsible for the management and promotion program of the Art Bonus, the application aspects of the rule will be explored in depth and discussions will be held with some of the most representative beneficiary bodies on the national scene in terms of quality and number of interventions carried out with the financial support of patrons: the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, the Regional Museums Directorate of Tuscany MiC, the Municipality of Florence.

On Monday 29 April, the theme of "preserving to enhance" will be highlighted, with particular reference to two museums: the House Museum of the Norwegian-American sculptor Hendrik Christian Andersen in Rome and the National Museum of Matera.

April 30th will be dedicated entirely to the Superintendencies of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape (SABAP), to show the interventions and initiatives of the territorial protection units of the Ministry of Culture. Some of the most significant activities conducted by SABAP will be exhibited, ranging from cooperation with local authorities for the implementation of redevelopment projects, to the planning and execution of innovative restoration interventions.

For the entire duration of the Show, the Ministry's institutional stand will constitute a meeting point for players in the cultural heritage conservation sector, where the conservation interventions, construction sites and MiC projects will also be illustrated through videos and information material.
