Today, at the Ariston Multiplex Cinema, the students of the school "Leonardo da Vinci” they met the author Enrico Galiano. Moderator of the debate is Dr. DS Maria Giuffre. Highly regarded for his alternative way of teaching, Galiano is often compared to john keating, the professor in the film “The fleeting moment”. In 2015 he earned a place in the list of the 100 best teachers in Italy drawn up by Masterprof.it website, while in 2020 it was included by "Il Sole 24 Ore" in the ranking of ten most influential professors in Italy who have become points of reference online. Very active on social media, in 2015 he created a web series called Things for a professor, which over time has exceeded 20 million views.
Over the course of the year, secondary school students read some of his texts; the first classes"The secret society of word savers", the second classes "School of happiness for eternal repeaters” and the third classes “Geography of perfect pain". "Despite the diversity of the texts, they all have a common thread that binds them: the great attention given to words, which can be an instrument of offense, defense or inclusion in our lives, respect for the other in his uniqueness, the various declinations of feeling of love, like that of a son for a father, of two friends or of a teacher towards his students. How many things can be done with words: use them to love or to hurt, to build or to destroy, to dream, to understand, to know“. This was the message that Galiano wanted to leave to the students, also recounting some events in his life, in which the mistakes made were a starting point for trying to be a better person. Life often makes us "eternal repeaters" but not to punish us but to improve ourselves. “How do you be a good teacher?”, he was asked. “It is necessary to listen to the children, to make them be an active part in the teaching-learning process”, says Galiano and so he did.
A good part of the meeting was an exchange of opinions with the students starting from the question: "what would you like your teachers to be like?” Thank you Enrico for dedicating part of your time to us! Thanks to the Mayor Pierluigi Sanna for having intervened, at Libreria Catena, for the usual availability and affection that he always shows towards our school and to DS Dr. Maria Giuffre, for getting involved during the debate with the author and the students.
