"After the events of the Dutch ship with a German commander in Lampedusa, the incurable attitude of the NGOs and the evident consequence that these actions encourage the arrival of illegal immigrants in Italian territory, I believe that a reflection on the matter cannot be postponed. I am now convinced - says the Hon. Volpi - that there is a need for the immediate preparation of all the capabilities available to the country and the definition of useful operating methods to firmly reconfirm the principles of legality, national interests and the sovereignty of Italy. All this, establishing unequivocal and uninterpretable rules, guaranteeing the always excellent work of the women and men of the police and the Armed Forces who daily give their best for the country, even risking their lives.".
