Eurofighter accident: today the funeral of pilot captain Altruda in the cathedral of San Lorenzo in Trapani

The funeral rite, officiated by the Bishop of Trapani, SER Monsignor Pietro Maria Fragnelli, will be held at 14 pm in the presence of military, civil and religious authorities.

The funeral of pilot officer Fabio Antonio Altruda will be held today, Saturday 17 December, at 14.30 pm in the Cathedral of San Lorenzo in Trapani.

At the funeral ceremony, which will be open to the public, military, civil and religious authorities will be present, who will gather together with the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Force General Luca Goretti, family members and colleagues for a last farewell to the young pilot.

As a sign of profound respect, mourning and closeness to the family members of the pilot officer, today the flags of all the Air Force bases will be at half-mast.

At the moment it is not possible to formulate any hypothesis regarding the causes of the accident in which Captain Altruda tragically lost his life at the controls of the Eurofighter fighter which crashed near the Sicilian air base in the late afternoon of Tuesday 13 December on his return from a mission of training.

It will be the investigations of the Trapani prosecutor's office and the flight safety commission established as per practice by the Air Force to collect and analyze the data and information useful for establishing the dynamics of the facts.
