Poor, Mipaaf: Agea call for 5,4 million euros from the national fund opened

Bellanova: 6 million kg of tomato pulp for those who need it most

“A few days after the first call for flour, Agea has issued a second call for tenders for the supply of over 6,2 million kilograms of tomato pulp for food support to the poor.

The endowment of the National Fund is thus used, following the indications of the Mipaaf table with the charitable bodies. They are supplies that guarantee access to food for millions of people, through canteens or the delivery of food packages. It is an instrument that we have further strengthened with the budget law and on which we know that we must work harder. The work of the institutions, with thousands of volunteers throughout Italy, represents a virtuous model on which Italy makes school in the world.

The 2020 challenge is to increase private donations to the national fund and recover surpluses, preventing food waste and giving concrete assistance to the poorest. A third of the food produced is wasted, we cannot afford to stand still without taking action. For this we must fully implement the Gadda Law ".

So the Minister of Agricultural Food and Forestry Policies Teresa Bellanova commented yesterday on the opening of the tender by Agea for the purchase of at least 6.243.756 kilograms of canned tomato pulp of 400 gr. net, the consideration of which is € 5.494.505 from the National Fund for the distribution of food to the most deprived persons.

This call follows the first issued in recent days for the supply of 3 million kilograms of flour.
