Today, an important preliminary agreement has been signed in Beijing for the strategic development of a new series of light commercial four-wheelers. The agreement was signed by Piaggio's President, Roberto Colaninno, and by the CEO of Foton Motor Group, Wang Jinyu.
The agreement provides for the establishment of a working group formed by the two countries that will work to validate a production and commercial plan and to define contractual documentation and finalize technical documentation by the spring of 2018.
This agreement, in line with the strategy to strengthen and modernize the offer of the Piaggio Commercial Vehicles division and in line with the Group's strategic guidelines, is aimed at developing a new range of commercial vehicles that will allow an important expansion of its market reference, while ensuring a significant reduction in costs.
The project envisages different types of vehicles in several versions: mini-cabins and mini van, suitable for both passenger and freight transport, in response to the growing demand for intracity mobility solutions with eco-friendly and end-use motors of top-level technologies.
All types of vehicles will have a running capacity up to 1,5 tonnes.
