Fourth year of collaboration between Italian police forces and the People's Republic of China

Today, for the fourth consecutive year, joint patrols with Chinese police officers on Italian territory will resume.

Italy is one of the three countries that carries out such an ambitious project with China (the others are Croatia and Serbia) but only the Italian police forces perform patrol service in China, as happened last summer in China. cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing and Guangzhou.

The International Police Cooperation Service (SCIP) of the Central Directorate of Criminal Police will coordinate the activities with the Police Headquarters of the Carabinieri of the cities of Rome, Milan, Turin and, for the first time, of Padua, where the mixed units will operate for three weeks.

As already happened in the past years, the Chinese policemen, supported by personnel of the State Police and of the Carabinieri, will have the prevailing task of assisting their Italian colleagues in the activities of territorial control and the protection of public safety, facilitating communication of the numerous tourists of that Country present in Italy both in the relationships with the local authorities and in the possible criticalities that can emerge in their stay.

The joint use of the patrols was presented in Rome, in the unique setting of the Giulio Cesare Campidoglio Aula by the Deputy Director General of Public Security, Prefect Vittorio RIZZI, in the presence of the Chinese Ambassador in Italy Junhua LI and a delegation from the Ministry Public Security of the People's Republic of China, led by the Deputy Chief of International Cooperation Yundong YANG.

"Listening to the Chinese and Italian hymns playing and singing, one after the other, for a security project, from a place as evocative as the Capitol, was a thrill, with a strong message about how important it is to work together to elevate safety standards in our countries. Respecting the law and the traditions of each one, seeing Italian and Chinese joint patrols work together offers the world an image of contemporaneity and ability to adapt security models to the needs and threats of our cosmopolitan society "said Prefect Vittorio Rizzi .
