Iran arrested an "Israeli spy" and a number of other people who were in contact with foreign intelligence, without giving the nationality of those arrested, according to what Iranian state media reported on Monday, and reported by Reuters.

"An Israeli spy was arrested in the Iranian province of Eastern Azerbaijan ... other spies who were in contact with the intelligence services of several countries were also arrested“, This is what was declared by an official of the Ministry of Intelligence.

Israeli officials did not immediately comment on the report.

The Islamic Republic does not recognize Israel and accused it of being behind acts of sabotage and murder of nuclear scientists.

Iran has pointed the finger at Israel accusing it of being responsible for the killing of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, which took place last year, considered by Western intelligence as the mastermind of a secret Iranian nuclear weapons program.

Tehran has denied trying to build a nuclear arsenal while Israel has neither confirmed nor denied responsibility for the murder.
