Italy-Spain, bilateral between the ministers of Justice

The Minister of Justice, Marta Cartabia, met her counterpart, Pilar Llop, today at the headquarters of the Spanish Ministry of Justice in Madrid. During the institutional meeting, the two ministers addressed some issues relating to the reforms that are being implemented in their respective countries to renew justice, as well as the main issues on the European agenda, topics of bilateral interest and judicial cooperation. They also had an exchange on their respective experiences regarding cooperation in the investigation of war crimes in Ukraine. Llop explained to the Italian Minister the situation regarding the non-renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary in Spain.

The meeting was also attended by the Secretary of State for Justice, Tontxu Rodríguez, the Director General of International Legal Cooperation, Elsa García-Maltrás and the Italian Ambassador to Spain, Riccardo Guariglia. During her stay in Spain, the Keeper of Seals will receive an honorary doctorate from the Complutense University of Madrid, along with former Vice President of the International Criminal Court and former President of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, Elizabeth Odio.
