The thirteenth century of the Santa Margherita Nautical Club: passages in Sansego

Anywave Safilens leads in XTutti, Hauraki in X2. In the late evening the first arrivals in Caorle

The fleet of participants in the twenty-ninth edition of La Duecento organized by the Circolo Nautico Santa Margherita in collaboration with the Municipality of Caorle, Darsena dell'Orologio and Birra Castello, is struggling in search of the right gust.

In the late evening of Saturday 29 April, a light breeze from the ground accompanied the descent along the Istrian coast.

All the boats suffered lack and wind shifts and even the biggest hulls struggled to reach the Sansego waypoint, with constant tacking along the coast.

The first boat overall and in the XTutti category to leave Sansego behind on Sunday 30 April at 07:30 was the Frers 64 Anywave Safilens helmed by Alberto Leghissa, who gave a gap of almost two hours to her pursuers Mecube Gruppo Hera EE, Farr 400 by Stefano Novello and QQ7, Farr 53 by Salvatore Costanzo.

The first boat in the X2 category to pass the Croatian island was the Millenium 40 Hauraki of Mauro and Giovanni Trevisan at 11.30, followed after about an hour by Karnak, Class 40 of Stefano Raspadori and Michele Mazzotti, disadvantaged by going upwind.

In the Multihull class, the Lightness group is led by Farrier F9 of the Austrian Christoph Nitsch at the passage at 16.00, while among the Open 650s engaged in the shortened course up to Porer, the first at 11 is Playtime 30 of Alessandro Ciscato-Davide Vicentini.

Meanwhile, about fifteen miles away, a second group of boats led by Jules of Manuel Costantin, Munjek RS of the Croatians Tomic Dusko-Bruno Gjidera, Tasmania of Antonio Di Chiara-Walter Svetina, Tokio of Massimo Minozzi-Fabio Schaffer and Il Moro di Venezia XXVII by Alessandro Narduzzi, chases the leaders relying on the announced wind reinforcements.

The bulk of the fleet sails on sight, marking each other at very short distances and trying to better interpret the difficult weather conditions, which are certainly giving the tacticians on board a hard time.

On today's evening, Sunday 30 April, the models agree on the entry of a reinforcement of bora wind in the Kvarner area, which should help the lift along the Istrian coast and favor the landing of the fleet in Caorle, where the Organizing Committee is preparing to welcome the protagonists of this intense edition with the traditional bottle of Soligo Spumanti prosecco delivered upon arrival.

The Duecento, the fourth stage of the FIV Italian Offshore Championship, valid for the assignment of the Masserotti Trophy, is run with the compensated systems ORC, IRC and Mocra.

It is possible to follow the regatta and monitor the position of the participants thanks to the SGS-Tracking satellite systems installed on board each boat, by connecting to the cnsm.org website or on the Facebook page Circolo Nautico Porto Santa Margherita.
