Yesterday an extreme measure. The parliamentarians of the League occupied, day and night, the two halls of the Parliament, they slept between the benches of the hemicycles. A symbolic protest to bring to everyone's attention the centrality of the “sovereign” Parliament, the only place to share and battle over choices that affect all Italians, represented through parliamentarians from every corner of the country. The role of Parliament and constitutional freedoms are the prerogatives that Lega, Fdi and Fi see sidelined by the prolongation of the emergency decree without the involvement of the Chambers.
The garrison of the League, however, displaced the allies. Forza Italia immediately withdrew from the initiative. Fratelli d'Italia cautiously speaks of: "Initiative not agreed".
In the House yesterday they voted on the Def, the Economic and Financial Planning Document, which asks to finance the restart with a gap in deficit. It was asked to suspend the rules of the Dignity decree, to make those who receive citizenship income work where there is no manpower, to introduce layoffs for all and the flat tax at 15%, excluding financial maneuvers.
A criminal shield is requested for those who transfer capital from abroad, bonuses for those who do not dismiss and that entrepreneurs are not criminally liable for workers' infections if they have implemented all the measures to protect against the virus. Political signals that, despite the collaboration offered in particular by FI and the convergence with a large part of the Pd and IV, neither the Azzurri nor the League intend to leave the voice of clear opposition to Giorgia Meloni alone. At this moment the national unity executive, especially opposed by Fdi, is not visible on the horizon.
Del Mes (European Stability Mechanism) is not mentioned, the path is too swampy. On the Def, instead, the common request is to inject more liquidity, taking advantage of the suspension decided by the EU of the rules of the Maastricht Treaty. It is now possible to exceed the limit of 3% in the ratio between deficit and Pii and 60% in the ratio between debt and GDP. The VAT safeguard clauses have been suspended until 2021. In this regard, the group leaders of Fi, Lega and Fdi, speak that this is the only possible economic policy choice: "strong increase in the public deficit, ie in public spending, thanks to the liquidity provided and guaranteed by the EU and the ECB".
Also Berlusconi makes his voice heard: "It is necessary to implement the fiscal peace with a discount of up to 40% of the tax bills, the payment of a lump sum for the recovery of the 200 billion not paid since 2000. We need a moratorium on all tax obligations at least for the whole of 2020" .
