The new health circular on quarantine and isolation

The circular with updates on quarantine and isolation measures following the spread of the new Omicron variant has been published on the website of the Ministry of Health. No quarantine for asymptomatic subjects who have received the dose boost, or completed the primary vaccination course within the previous 120 days, or recovered from SARS-CoV-2 infection within the preceding 120 days, with the obligation to wear FFP2 type masks for at least 10 days.

The self-monitoring period ends on day 5. In case of high-risk contacts, health professionals must also perform daily swabs up to day 5. For these vaccinated or cured subjects, a rapid or molecular antigen test is required to detect the Sars-Cov-2 antigen at the first appearance of symptoms and, if still symptomatic, on the fifth day following the date of the last close contact with subjects confirmed positive for Covid 19.

The circular 'Update on quarantine and isolation measures following the global spread of the new VOC SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant (B.1.1.529)', specifies that for subjects not vaccinated or who have not completed the primary vaccination course or who have completed the primary vaccination course for less than 14 days the current measure of the quarantine provided for in the duration of 10 days from the last exposure to the case remains unchanged, at the end of which period a molecular or antigen test is performed with a negative result.

For subjects who have completed the primary vaccination cycle for more than 120 days, and who are still valid for the green pass, if asymptomatic: the quarantine lasts 5 days, provided that at the end of this period it is performed a molecular or antigen test with a negative result.

As for infected subjects who have previously received the booster dose, or who have completed the vaccination course for less than 120 days, isolation can be reduced from 10 to 7 days, provided that they have always been asymptomatic, or have been asymptomatic for at least 3 days and on the condition that, at the end of this period, a molecular or antigenic test is performed with a negative result.
